Renewable Energy Wins: Mark Jacobson of Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment at the University of Iowa Debate and on David Letterman Show
Mark "Jacobson and his co-authors have published studies on how to switch to all solar, wind and water energy sources for the world, the U.S. and New York State. They will soon publish a study for California, and they have plans to do studies for all 50 U.S. states..." (Stanford Woods Institute, 2014)
He also debated a Wall Street representative at the University of Iowa Debate in October, 2014, "Resolved: That the United States should adopt and implement a plan to achieve 100% renewable energy by 2030, in an Oxford-style debate." (UIPPC, 2014)...
The debate had no sound on 10/15/14....except for the Wall Street advocate's push for fricken fracken.
Hopefully, Dave was more receptive to the potentials for a Renewable Energy Economy and Green City Infrastructure to clear the air....but CBS removed Mark's online discussion with Dave from the post....

All Hands on Deck: A Renewable Energy Economy, A Logical Economy Produces Positives to Win.....Humans' Artificial Counts We Call "Economy" Crush Life & Land and Lose
Logical ecological economist, Robert Costanza reported in
the scientific journal Nature in 1997
that natures' hidden but amazing, living, logical, growing green economy of photosynthesis and respiration produces 3 times as many services and cycles of, by, for humans than humans produce for humans (in
terms of "GDP") such as water
filtration, air filtration, O2 production, buffering of micro and macro
climates and air sheds, soil production,
green habitat production, stability of urban systems, critical flows into our cities, recreation and escape from the confines of urban walls, freedom to explore without addictions to fossil fuels, support for living creatures such as humans, food
production, flood prevention, drought prevention, desertification prevention,
buffering entire earth systems from cashflow floods....than humans produce for
humans in artificial, mechanical packages in walls, human GDP only 1/3 that
produced by nature’s amazing genius in every seed, seedling, soil that wants to
reach up toward light.
In 2003, Grist
reported that Costanza had changed that ratio from 3:1 to 100:1.....and
commented that they were puzzled why "financial advisors" on Wall
Street weren't giddy about those dividends ......dividends of amazing, logical
economic productivity hidden far from urban walls that nature's invisible flows
deliver to the poorest in our cities....without help from the GOP…..nature’s
logical economic returns much, much greater than our dying, cracking urban
centers of the artificial walls.
Could it be because nature's amazing producers and genius in
every self, cell, self, globe, seed, seedling, soil hide so far from the
obvious, immediate, everyday, private world and walls of noisy traffic jams and
urban sprawled chaos that we're too busy counting empty numbers of simple,
mechanical artificial human cash coins and paper that we've forgotten to count
outcomes of our actions and oppressive rates of numbers?
Could it be that cash-driven, privatized profiteers know
that they need to control distribution of supplies to demand to cling to
political control also?
Could it be that the cash-driven focus so much on obvious,
everyday, privatized, immediate things and gadgets and widgets invented by
human cities....that they have forgotten about basic critical needs, wants and
dreams of the many stuck in the bowels of our crumbling cities?
Do you think that the cash-driven 1% can learn to understand
that a happy and healthy human, life, land, earth produces more stuff and
critical flows for their own “economy” so that their own cash account can
grow? Or not?
Could it be that the many stuck in thick, dense walls and
barriers have difficulty finding critical flows of O2, H2O, rich organic topsoil
to grow food hidden far beyond the obvious, privatizing, mechanical toll booths
of human cities that block access out and block access in to keep the other
out.....blocking also critical flows of O2, H2O, soil, food that many need to
find to access any private or public health, "life, liberty and the
pursuit of happiness" of any definition, impossible to count in mechanical
human cash.
Could it be that the cash-driven 1% that are seizing control
of my country under "Citizens United" a sham have forgotten to read
my U.S. Constitution, international laws and treaties, The Rule of Law, Biology
101, and moral laws of reciprocity balanced by nature's amazing balancing of
powers, justifying for equality and equalizing for justice for every living
cell on earth, each living cell filtering all critical flows that hold our
fragile web for all life intact then, now, generations from now? We can't afford a world limited to
totalitarian black or totalitarian white, black bad white good, me good you
bad.....We need gray continuums for life and land to function….to produce
enough to survive now and generations from now.
Any system, living or not needs a) logical structure, b)
logical function, c) critical flows to connect structures enough to function,
c) organisms to produce critical flows (such as O2, H2O, soil, food) to keep
the system functional (function squared)....to d) produce enough specifically
designed critical flows to meet the needs of others, e) to consume enough
specifically designed, logical critical flows to function (function cubed), f)
nature’s hidden and ancient genetic potentials, genius, logic that has learned
to adapt to environment, that shapes environment, a trademark of living
organisms to survive., su..g) specific critical flows designed by nature's amazing
but hidden genius, hidden genetic potentials and critical flows to connect the
disconnected enough to activate hidden genetic potentials to kinetic function
to the 4th power, to energize enough to lift the many up to light
enough, light to energize and fulfill all to h) enable living organisms, cell,
self, ecosystem, globe to reach up to light enough to produce abundant riches,
critical flows and functions and structures and genius /logic enough to count
in human cash....critical flows impossible to count in human cash systems that
crush life's genius on earth, life and land of infinite productivity potentials
if we stop crushing nature’s ability to produce wonders….
Our word root, "eco-" as in "eco+nomic"
as in "name" and as in "number" and as in
"eco-logic" as in "logic" and "link" and
"linguistics" of infinite permutations and flows of ideas means
"house" or "oikos" in Greek.......but not every house
nurtures those within.
Some houses crush and destroy those within.....Some houses
assuming erroneously that mechanical and artificial cash-flow floods of empty
numbers mean "riches" or "worth" or "economy..."
….and define “poverty” as lack of empty counts of cash…..when actually that may
be a blessing……….the cash-driven 1% assuming erroneously that privatized cash
profiteering justifies all. But it does
not....and they are wrong, very, very wrong, wrong scientifically, wrong
mathematically, wrong economical, wrong ecologically, wrong morally and often
wrong legally, the cash-driven rewriting human history and human law to sell
the immoral as acceptable for a privatized profit for only 1%.
After World War I, an entire wheelbarrow of German Marks
became worthless....as any artificial, mechanical symbol can change its meaning
in an instant.....especially empty, mechanical, artificial rates and numbers of
cash-flow floods that destroy nature's productivity, nature's living producers
and amazing earth systems that produce critical flows enough to keep humans
alive day to day and minute to minute.....until humans destroy life and land
and earth's ability to heal a broken earth.
A cash-driven 1% seem to limit counts to empty numbers of cash of, by,
for only 1%......but need to wake up and count more than simple, empty numbers
of rates of human cash. The cash-driven
1% such as the Koch brothers, the Bush and Cheney families and the cash-driven
and fossilized coal, oil, gas industries need to think about outcomes and
potentials for their own childrens' futures.
The evidence has become overwhelming that they have not....and have
instead, blocked public access to critical information and resources that All
100% need to change our course of history from a tailspin downward into climate
heating and drowning that are destroying human civilization and life.....into a
more positive course upwards made possible by an immediate transition from our
addictions to dead, dying, fossilized energy that we need to leave in the
ground where it belongs....to a more positive course upwards to free us from
the negative, by investing immediately asap now yesterday into a cleaner,
safer, greener, more affordable, healthier, cost-free, happier Renewable Energy
Economy Future to lift all up out of "poverty" to safer, more
affordable, efficient access for All to public infrastructure foundations
designed to conduit critical flows from nature directly to the many to produce
abundant riches, critical flows, cost-efficiency, health, laughter, light to
empower all to grow positives enough to count in cash now and generations from
now.
Why not?
Cashflow floods kill life and our own childrens'
futures. All hands on deck now. Why the wait?
Nature, however has perfected (her? his? its? mother's)
designing expertise for millions, billions of years to adapt magnificently to
changing environments and needs, for living cells of genetic genius to
understand how to act to survive (as paramecium one celled organisms seek
pleasure and avoid pain also).....nature's amazing genius clearly evident in
the very, very specific adaptations of many creatures to their complex
environments impossible to explain by Darwin's hijacked theory of the
"survival of the fittest" or unnatural "natural selection"
used by industrialists 150 years ago to feel better about luring migrants into
the cities with "streets of gold" that weren't. The totalitarian lies continue to this
minute.....cash-driven lies that are destroying life and land that we need to
produce critical flows of air, breathable oxygen only as O2, water as H2O,
rich, organic topsoil and soil makers to grow food for us to eat and forests to
grow shelter....to keep humans alive day to day and minute to minute.
We need time, also to heal....so we cannot expect immediate, obvious, privatized, cash results or positive outcomes when our nation has spent 150 years destroying the ability of nature to produce critical flows enough for us to heal.
At this point in geologic and human history, immediate action to change the course of history is critical because humans have already released enough carbon as Cx (many forms of carbon etc) that will have long-term, unseen costs and consequences for us.
But we still need to take immediate steps now to transition to a less polluting, wasteful, destructive world of greedy force......to a) leave the dinosaurs in the ground where they belong, b) divest immediately from our addictions to fossilized, dirty, dead energy, c) let nature do the work instead of machines......c1) harvest free flows of solar and wind energy that we are wasting by not harvesting it....c2) reduce waste 100% to redefine and restructure so-called "waste" as "resource" by redefining and reinventing.... because nature wastes very little (close to 0%) because nature functions with critical flows as an analog system without deadly gaps between each piece of information with infinitely intricate and vast and inalienable/indivisible links, nodes strands of critical flows between each cell that hold the web for all life intact, each cell filtering each flow....c3) invent, invest and install immediately a safer, cleaner, more affordable, more productive, healthier, happier, more nurturing, less wasteful, less toxic Renewable Energy Economy Future of critical flows of, by, for All 100%...even the 1%.....counted in cash or not.......not needing to count cash because nature nurtures all 100% with critical flows, supplies to satisfy critical demands/needs/wants/desires as in Eden. Was the Biblical story of Adam and Eve actually a parable about the terrible climatic costs and consequences of crushing nature's ability to produce and protect wonders of earth.....such as life and land to nurture life?....and c4) hold those that continue to crush life and land on earth accountable for their crimes, obvious in the immediate or not.......c5) value nature's wonders as a tool to develop scientific literacy we all need to find a safer course into an uncertain but common future for All 100% to share...even the 1%.
But so many just don't get it because nature's amazing and
productive genius hide far beyond the obvious of linear, dumbing human walls
and barriers that crush life.
We have a chance as a species to become heroes for all
living things....if we act now asap immediately yesterday to a) leave dead
energy of dinosaurs in the ground, b) divest from dead fossilized energy with
the help of the public and private sectors working as a team together to save
their own childrens' futures (and public sectors have already blessed
oil/gas/coal CEOs with unearned fortunes at taxpayer expense now and
generations from now)....and c) invest immediately asap now yesterday into a
cleaner, safer, more affordable, healthier, happier Renewable Energy Economy
Future (REEF), a more logical economy to enable US and our world to c1) harvest
amazing free gifts from nature, critical flows of solar and wind power to power
our world and economies with amazing minimal investments for amazing
returns/dividends now and generations from now....because the sun alone could
power all energy needs on earth x 11,000....wind power could also power all
energy needs on earth......so why in the Hell haven't our leaders, private,
public sectors already constructed that Renewable Energy Economy Infrastructure
for US already? Why? Why not?
Are they addicted to their own private, empty counts of cash for only
one private bank account at our expense.....while destroying their own
childrens' futures? That is
criminal. Did the oil/gas industries
conspire to melt the ice in the Arctic to open shipping routes for shipping
oil/gas from the Arctic to ports around the world of, by, for privatized cash
profiteering for only 1%, the cash driven oil and gas industry while destroying
the ability of human civilization and life on earth to survive.....turning
earth "into another planet"....an unlivable planet with impunity?
Do our leaders assume that privatized, blinding bank
accounts of privatized cash-flow floods count all? They are wrong, very, very wrong, wrong
scientifically, wrong mathematically, wrong exponentially, wrong economically,
wrong ecologically, wrong ego+nomically, wrong morally and wrong
legally.....though a cash-driven 1% try to rewrite human history and human law
to sell the immoral as acceptable. They
cannot rewrite nature's laws nor moral laws of reciprocity .......nature's
productivity of critical flows balancing powers, justifying for equality,
equalizing for justice for all living organisms and amazing earth
systems.....ironically.
Ironically, the most cash-driven seem to want to own G_d the
most......blaming my G_d for their own stupid actions.......limiting their definitions
to thick, impermeable walls and barriers and boxes of impermeable definitions
stuck in stone.....and pushing those absolutes onto the many unsuspecting,
vulnerable, innocent, unborns now and generations from now.....abusing powerful
religious and political symbols to seize political and cash-driven powers from
the many to sit secretly at the top of impermeable pyramid schemes, scams,
secrecy that crush the many with force and suck resources from the many to the
top.....to send our innocents to fight for war and oil profiteers at taxpayer
expense.

We need to divest from toxic energy to produce a cleaner, healthier environment and economy enough to lift all 100% up to light enough to produce abundant riches of earth for All 100% to share freely....even the 1% and their children.....abundant riches/blessings of the Divine impossible to count in mechanical counts of cash. Founders of the United States promised US health, "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" of any definition.....in more than empty counts of mechanical, artificial counts of human cash. Numerous religions warn humans to count more than human cash. No wonder. I hope that All Americans and others will volunteer (as in don't need to receive cash to do something good) to clean up the human messes that humans have made as our earth looks much different now.
Notice how blue earth was then....as in contrast to now....earth turning from blue to black over the last 50 years thanks to the cash-driven dead energy industries, dirty oil BP, Exxon...even so-called "clean energy" that is not .....dirty propaganda and dirty energy monster molecules of oil, gas, coal and fricken fracken and tar sludge that breaks pipes and others that gleefully spill toxics on our oceans (including Cx falling from the atmosphere...), killing nature's genius, killing nature's logic, critical flows and producers of critical flows, killing plankton that once produced most of the oxygen as O2 or O=O with a very fragile double bond that humans need to survive day to day and minute to minute............the dead oil energy industry fossilized that gets paid to pollute, costing even their own childrens' futures....
In fact, our thin layer of air over our fragile home has turned from blue to gray, medium gray, very gray and black often in catastrophic costs of monster storms caused by humans. Don't blame G_d. Earth's living systems need critical flows produced by green and blue systems to filter nutrients as resource and to excrete as waste that becomes resource for other, diverse organisms....a function of nature's genius that has evolved over millions, billions of years.

TRANSITION FROM DIRTY ENERGY TO RENEWABLE ENERGY NOW: Climate Deniers Cause Costs, Not Profits: "A stitch in time saves nine..." and "a penny saved is a penny earned"
The New York Times reported (2014) that "UN Says Lag in Confronting Climate Woes Will Be Costly".....about $1 trillion........
This means that waiting to transition from dirty, dead fossil energy to a Renewable Energy Economy will cost us because dirty, dead fossil energy causes catastrophes around the globe daily that easily add up to more than $1 trillion per year....
....but not as costly limiting our definition of "the economy" to cash-flow floods of the oil/gas/coal industries...but not as costly as blinding US to human-caused climate change and not as costly as failing to transition from dirty dead fuels to a Renewable Energy Economy asap....and not as costly as trying to blind US with lies to kill our futures...http://nyti.ms/1asqnEU
Ironically, our human cash system counts the most critical flows for life the least and the least critical the most, the most deadly the most. Most humans define "the economy" as cash-flow counts for goods and services in our privatized, immediate, obvious, everyday world.
We need to count more than the private, the obvious, the short-term of Wall Street, the everyday, linear walls and barriers of a cash-driven chaos.
We need to count public worlds now and generations from now impossible to count in cash....We need to count public worlds of the complex, of civil governments invented to help keep civilization afloat long-term...We need to count complex, public, sharing, long-term public infrastructure foundations that can grow to greatness or that can fall because of those who conspire to destroy public worlds and the innocent.
We need to count nature's amazing but hidden genius far from the obvious impossible to count in mechanical, artificial, obvious terms of human cash coins ....cashflow floods that crush nature's hidden genetic potentials to destroy abilities of nature to produce critical flows such as air, oxygen as O2, water as H2O, topsoil to grow food for humans to breathe, drink, eat........critical flows produced by nature's fragile green watersheds that keep humans alive day to day and minute to minute.
Our nation and world can not afford to limit our counts to private cash of only some private bank accounts of only 1%.
Humans need nature's genius to produce critical flows such as oxygen, water, food to keep humans alive day to day and minute to minute.....but ironically, human cash systems of private, immediate, obvious, everyday paychecks do not count the value of nature.....and destroy nature's productivity and potentials to produce, instead.
Robert Castronovo discoverd in 1997 that nature's genius produces at least 3 times of GDP equivalents....as in human economic GDP of "goods and services" to supply humans with the supplies they need.
In 2003, Castronovo boosted that ratio from 3:1 to 100:1.....enough to "make any financial advisor giddy" (Grist, 2003).
The difference is ironic and puzzling:

Why? Can we even use our mechanical, artificial human cash system to account for critical flows that keep humans alive and happy day to day and minute to minute (i.e. it's hard to be "happy" or to "pursue happiness" when dying from lack of O2 or H2O or food.
Why do human cash systems value the private, immediate, obvious, everyday world of structures urban walls and barriers more than life and health?
Do we need to redefine our term "The Economy" to count more than cash, to value the invaluable, the priceless impossible to count in cash? How?
Quantities measure mechanical, artificial numbers of counts defined by definitions dictated by those counting perhaps for a purpose.....and "findings" depends on what is being counted. But what if only the numbers of counts is counted and given meaning? What if we have forgotten what we're counting....so that our counts and numbers and quantities of dollars become meaningless?
Qualities explain definitions, shapes, characteristics, appearances impossible to count in mechanical, artificial terms of human cash......logic and intelligence and legal investigations between actions and reactions, between causes and effects..... between positive causes and positive reactions that grow upwards slowly toward light to produce abundant riches of earth enough for all to share, that many call "blessings"......or links between negative causes and negatives of consequences that suck all down easy, cheap, quick, a "curse"....
Numerous religions warn humans to count more than human cash of egos counting only the private self: Humans need nature's amazing, divine productivity in every seed, seedling, soil to reach up toward light to produce abundance, riches of earth enough for All 100% to share....even with the 1%.
But some just don't get it and choose to limit their counts to only one obvious, privatized, immediate self of only one obvious now. Many have discovered that ego-driven cash economies destroy the ability of nature to produce riches.....or even the critical flows of O2, H2O, soil to keep humans alive day to day and minute to minute.....threatening entire civilizations.
Ironically, human cash counts the least critical flow, deadly structures of bloody diamonds and gold, toxic dirty, dead energy of "clean coal" that is not, propaganda, dirty coal, dirty oil, dirty oil wars, dirty fricken fracken that causes earthquakes, sinkholes and destroys entire continental water aquifers that can't be "cleaned up".....and that will always release methane into our atmosphere, even though methane or "natural gas" that is not or "NG" or CH4 is 25 to 100 times more powerful as a greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide, CO2 or Cx that has already caused deadly and catastrophic global climate change, especially in the Arctic where this conspiracy, propaganda and racketeering has opened up a shipping route for the first time in human history as our common Arctic has melted for the first time in human history......of, by, for privatized corporate dead oil/gas industries to loot the Arctic for petroleum of, by, for privatized cash profiteering for private oil and gas CEOs ...at public taxpayer expense.....destroying their own childrens' futures.
More than 97% of climate scientists agree that human carbon emissions (and other pollutants such as Cx) of the human "Industrial Revolution" have caused carbon levels to skyrocket and hit 400 parts per million in 2013 for the first time in human history....as earth's climate has warmed almost 2 degrees centigrade since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution.
We need more than "adaptation" to survive: We need a War on Climate Change and those that Cause Climate Catastrophes: We need immediate divestment from dead fossil fuels to leave dead energies in the ground where they belong. We need immediate investment in a Renewable Energy Economy infrastructure to drastically reduce both quantities and kinds of emissions that are causing global atmospheric temperatures and chaos to increase drastically. James Hansen of NASA has warned that we can afford no more than a 2 degrees centigrade increase in global temperatures (since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution) because otherwise our earth will become a "different planet".......excessive Arctic heating (of more than 4 degrees farenheit, much more than the rest of the globe for the last couple of years causing drastic heating and melting of Greenland and Arctic permafrost, sparking an explosion of methane/CH4/"natural gas"/"NG" from the Arctic just in the last couple of months, melts of glaciers......an influx of fresh water in the north Atlantic causing the Gulf Stream to slow, causing cooling of north Atlantic nations never before seen in human history.....as the "polar vortex" visited so many in the winter of 2013-2014 .....when the Arctic was much warmer in winter than the lower 48 states of the US. Meanwhile global climate change has caused radical and deadly shifts and chaos in major earth systems of lands, climate, oceans, chemical cycles that life and land and earth systems have learned to buffer and protect for eons. But the Anthropocene Era of the last 150 years of human history has crushed nature's ability to recover from the force of the negative, of urban industrialization, of urban sprawl that destroys nature's productivity that any need to grow green watersheds and normal oceans enough to feed the many, to carry the many toward a safer future for all 100% to share....even the 1%.
We need criminal prosecution against those who have and do spend millions, billions of dollars to conspire to block access of the many to transition from dirty, dead energy of the negative, racketeering..... blocking safe and affordable access for All 100% to a safer, more affordable, more positive gift of energy from the sun and wind to harvest a "Renewable Energy Economy" that will pull millions, billions out of poverty...even the 1% in misfortune......and we need a "War on Human Carbon Emissions (and other GHG) that have caused the deadly escalation of carbon levels to 400 parts per million for the first time in human history, threatening the future of humanity.
The strongest, most powerful storm in human history hit the Phillipines late in 2013, Haiyan the most powerful storm in human history ever to hit land in a nation hit frequently by severe storms......most recently in 2012 when the U.N. Ambassador broke into tears to beg our world to stop the madness.
We need more than "adaptation" to the catastrophes caused by humans that will only grow bigger and stronger through time. We need leaders of vision and wisdom who know how to count more than cash to gruide the many toward a safer future.....who have the courage to stand up and speak out and challenge those that are blaming this climate crisis on God. Climate change deniers are wrong, very, very, wrong, wrong scientifically, wrong mathematically, wrong economically, wrong ego-nomically, wrong morally and often wrong legally, rewriting human history and human laws in human books to sell the unacceptable as acceptable of, by, for privatized cash profiteering for only one obvious now.
Humans need nature to grow abundance, riches of earth enough to harvest to find any health, "life, liberty or pursuit of happiness " of any definition.
But some try to sell the unacceptable at public taxpayer expense.....pushing costs onto the many unsuspecting, victimizing the victim, the innocent. That is criminal.
The Rule of Law, equalizing for justice and justifying for equality is not built on metal boxes of inflexible absolutes of only one definition of only one private, immediate, obvious point of view biased.
The Rule of Law based on moral laws of reciprocity depend on nature to produce critical flows enough to fill in hungry voids of the negative, to lift all 100% up to light enough to produce abundance enough for All 100% to share....even with the 1%.
We cannot afford only 1% to rob the 100%....including their own childrens' future.
Prevention pays....and Renewable Energy Pays to lift many out of poverty if we count more than mechanical, empty, toxic numbers of cash-flow floods into secret bank accounts of oil/gas/coal CEOs.
